University of Alabama at Birmingham Highlands Retaining Wall

When an existing retaining wall and slope near the UAB Highlands Campus began to fail, MBA was called to assess the damage and recommend improvements.  The project consisted of design of a new retaining wall to permanently stabilize the failing slope and wall.  Due to the proximity to property lines, a parking area, and adjacent buildings, a special type of retaining wall was designed so that the new wall could be built within the space requirements .A cantilever secant and lagging wall was selected.

MBA provided civil engineering, structural engineering, project management, and led a team that included surveying, geotechnical, and electrical engineering.
